Yesterday I did a talk for nurses and physical therapists at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital. I spoke about the benefits of acupuncture for pain management, some of the known mechanisms by which acupuncture works, how acupuncture fits into the western medical setting, and the opportunities and challenges associated with this integration. The audience was wonderful (especially because my parents were there) and I was reminded how exciting it is to connect with other professionals who are passionate about patient-centered care. The residents of New London and the surrounding area are very fortunate to have such a wonderful team caring for them, especially in light of the financial difficulties CT hospitals have been facing.
