Below is a list of the most commonly asked questions that I receive about acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. If you have any questions that are not answered here, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

What should I wear to acupuncture?
Loose, comfortable clothing.
How long will a treatment take?
Please allow 75 – 90 minutes for the first treatment and 60 minutes thereafter. For the timing of specific types of treatment, see the appointments page.
Does acupuncture hurt?
There may be a pinch upon the initial insertion, and once the needle is in you may notice a dull, achy sensation, but it is not painful. Acupuncture needles are much smaller than the hypodermic needles you have experienced at the doctor’s office.
Are the needles re-used?
No. All needles are single use, disposable needles.
Should I do anything special before or after my session?
You should eat 1 to 2 hours prior to acupuncture and drink plenty of water before and after your treatment.
What are your prices?
Please see the appointments page.
Do the herbs contain pesticides and heavy metals?
All herbs that I use are purchased from companies within the U.S. that do extensive testing for purity and quality of the herbs. Upon request I will be happy to refer you to their websites so that you may see their quality control standards for yourself.
Is it ok to take Chinese herbs with my other medications?
That depends upon the medications and the herbs. This will be carefully evaluated. Please be sure to inform all practitioners of medications and supplements you are taking.
